Erin and Brian Mooney have both been involved in the restaurant industry for as long as they can remember. They own a very successful catering business, Tre Luna Catering, and were approached in 2016 by a good friend about opening a restaurant in the Village at Brock’s Gap, which was then in the planning and development phase.
The Mooneys live in Hoover, and opening their own restaurant had always been a goal, so everything seemed to fall into place naturally. Over the next 3 years, the Mooneys were able to put the right people into place to manage their growing catering business so that they could put more time and energy into the new restaurant.
During these 3 years, the developers of the center asked if they would take over the larger space with a patio instead of one of the smaller spaces they had originally planned. The Mooneys loved the idea of having a large patio and a larger space, but they did want to take on the financial burden of a larger space. Call it serendipity, or divine intervention, or whatever you want…but around that same time, a member of the Mooneys’ church, Rick Botthof, approached them about being an investor. Rick’s wife Christine did a wonderful job designing the interior of the restaurant with a beautiful white marble bar and chic modern decor throughout.
Tre Luna Bar and Kitchen officially opened on May 23rd, 2019 as an upscale Italian restaurant with a neighborhood feel. It’s the perfect date night spot, but it’s also a wonderful place for families to enjoy. They offer a great happy hour and dinner Monday-Saturday, and reservations are encouraged. The large patio is welcoming and relaxing and is a great spot to enjoy cocktails and appetizers.
Erin and Brian have an amazing staff at Tre Luna Bar and Kitchen who are all committed to accommodating every customer. They serve the freshest ingredients, most of which are obtained from a local farmers market. Their homemade pizza dough is made in-house daily and they use a wood-burning oven from Italy. They offer a “raw” bar with a great selection of seafood, salads, pastas, pizzas, and entrees that are updated seasonally. Tre Luna Bar and Kitchen also offers an extensive wine list as well as other cocktails.
Brian can be found at the restaurant daily, and you’ll see Erin mainly on the weekends. They both continue to communicate closely with the management team of the catering business, and they help with larger events or whenever needed. Erin and Brian also have three children who you can often see eating dinner at the restaurant.
Since opening in May, they have been shown tons of support from the Hoover community, and the restaurant is constantly busy. Their servant hearts and commitment to serving the freshest ingredients will continue to make Tre Luna Bar and Kitchen a huge success.
Reservations are encouraged and can be made by calling 205-538-5866. Their menu can be found at https://www.trelunabarandkitchen.com and the restaurant is located at 1021 Brocks Gap Parkway Suite 145 in Hoover.
